Team
The BATA-PHX idea was “officially” born at a meeting between Jim McPherson, Kimber Lanning, Samuel Richard, Mare Biddle and Brad Biddle, at Lux Coffee Bar in Phoenix on May 1st, 2009. We did some casual information gathering over the next six months. Momentum around the project picked up in November, 2009 when Brad spoke about the effort informally at Gangplank and at SustainaBIL, and Brad and Jim raised the idea at an Urban Infill Working Group (UIWG) meeting.
At the UIWG meeting Brad and Jim met ASU School of Public Affairs student Brynna Nichols, who suggested engaging ASU SPA professor Joanna Lucio. Joanna and Brad met, and Joanna decided to have her Spring 2010 URB 400 Senior Professional Seminar course focus on developing a feasibility study of the BATA-PHX concept. We anticipate that the URB 400 students will produce a white paper analyzing the idea, and host a forum where they discuss their results.
In November we created a Google Group as a working forum for the team; Yuri Artibise, Jose Gonzales, John Harlow and Braden Kay are participating in the group, in addition to the individuals named above.
We welcome anyone who would like to join our effort; please contact us. Also, please see our post on “How to Help.”
